War and peace:

Summary:
Six years were spent in Tolstoy writing War and Peace. Russkiy Vestnik, a Russian publication, first serialized the book in 1865 under the title 1805 Tolstoy and his wife, Sofya, decided to stop the serialization and instead concentrate on publishing the novel in volumes after the novel was initially published in serial form by the Russian periodical Russkiy Vestnik under the title 1805 beginning in 1865. However, the novel's somewhat unfavorable reception and Tolstoy's need to revise led to this decision.
In addition to hiring renowned artist Mikhail Bashilov to illustrate the book, Tolstoy continued to write. Three volumes were published and sold quickly by 1868. In the years 1868 and 1869, Tolstoy completed three more books. Several drafts had been manually duplicated by Sofya. War and Peace took up more than 1,200 pages in total when it was originally published.
