Know exactly what ECAT is?
The Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT) is conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore for getting admission in BS/BSc/BE engineering degrees. It is required for admission to many top universities in Pakistan such as UET, GCU, NUML, etc.
There are four subjects included in ECAT:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry/Computer/Statistics
- English
How many marks are required for ECAT:
The students of Engineering and Computer Studies have to wish to take admitted to the university of engineering and technology. For getting admission to engineering universities they should know how many marks are required for admission.
- Mathematics (30 MCQs = 120 Marks)
- Physics (30 MCQs = 120 Marks)
- Chemistry/Computer/Statistics (30 MCQs = 120 Marks)
- English (10 MCQs = 40 Marks)
There are a total of 100 MCQs and each MCQ has 4 MARK so the total marks of ECAT are 400. Getting 130 marks out of 400 is pretty normal. If you want to secure admission to UET for CS you would have to get more than 50% marks.
Start preparation while in FSC:
The syllabus for ECAT and FSC are almost the same. Most of the formulas and diagrams are taken directly from FSC books. So, start preparing for ECAT while in FSC. Clear your FSC concepts. This will help you to ensure that your concepts stay strong up until the ECAT.
Don’t Panic:
Don’t take too much pressure on ECAT because it can affect your mental as well as physical health. First of all, relax your mind and don’t panic. Take a good diet and sleep for almost 6 hours a day. Just focus on your study and believe in yourself if you want to secure good marks on ECAT.

For example, you are weak in trigonometry or maybe you make mistakes in organic chemistry so to overcome these mistakes or weaknesses give particular time to these topics. If you really want to secure the highest marks in ECAT then this tip is very helpful for you. Communicating is a good thing to communicate with your teachers and seniors because they can guide you about ECAT and every topic you find difficult. They will help you in every matter.
